Your friend’s baby (or niece or nephew) has arrived and you want to visit but don’t want to come empty handed. You could always bring food for the new parents. Or follow some of the gift suggestions for the new mom. But what if you want to bring something for the new baby? Below are some suggestions of what newborns may be into.
Play Kits
We adore LoveEvery for all their age appropriate toys. As first time parents, we didn’t know how to play with our first baby or what he was into at each stage during the first year. These playkits helped us so much. We did a year subscription with our first and he actually loved playing with almost everything in each kit. Since then, other companies, like Lalo, have also created age appropriate playkits.
Baby Bath Gift Set
Lots of baby brands do gift cute gift sets. We received the Honest set for our first baby. It is affordable, super cute, and the wooden box can be repurposed for baby products. However, our boys did have sensitive skin and didn’t love the scented Honest products. If you’re worried about sensitive skin, try some of the other brands like Mustela.
Mushie Newborn Gift Set (Mini)
We love all things Mushie. The muted colors are so alethically pleasing, especially when baby products can be so overwhelmingly colorful. External appearances aside, our boys also loved Mushie pacifiers best out of all the ones we’ve tried.
Diapers
All babies poop and pee, so you can never go wrong with diapers. Coterie does a nice newborn gift box. Their diapers are quite luxurous–something we wouldn’t buy personally but its nice to recieve as a gift. If you care about presentation but don’t want to put in the effort, you could also order a premade Honest Diaper cake. But if you and your friends are more lowkey, then just bring a bag of Pampers or Huggies. It’s usually safe to get size 1 or 2 (as most likely they won’t need too many newborn diapers).
Baby Bottles
Baby bottles and feeding can be a very personal thing. You never know if a baby will be breast, expressed, or formula fed. However, if you know a baby will be bottle fed, hegen makes some gorgeous bottles that are also beautifully packaged. Plus if they don’t use it for milk, they can be repurposed for snacks.
Baby Milestone Book
We were gifted a baby milestone book with our first kid and we loved it. It wasn’t something we thought to buy for ourselves. But it got us to record all of baby’s milestones during the first year. We’ve since bought one for each of our kids and have also gifted one to all our friends who are expecting.
Baby Blanket
We have so many baby blankets of various thickness. But even then, we can never have too much. Baby blankets are always a safe gift and Pottery Barn has some cute blanket and lovely sets.
